The Generative Internet
The Hidden Revolution Marketers Aren’t Ready For
Which quote best describes you right now?
“I’m bored of reading about AI replacing agencies, jobs, and everything else.”
“I’m bored of my company’s internal AI committee still working out how to use it.”
“I’m bored of the LinkedIn em dash — police. Who cares?”
“All of the above, and I have something else to say.”
If that’s you, hi, I’m Haifa. And I need to tell you something that’s getting drowned out in all the noise. But first, why trust me? I’m a Futurist, AI strategist who recently launched an AI marketing product, former Head of Strategy at Saatchi and now an insider within AI Brands. I’ve spent 20 years helping businesses win immediately and stay one step ahead of what’s next.
And I’m here to raise the red flag you can actually do something about, while everyone’s talking about how to use AI, something far bigger, and far quieter, is already happening.
The Shift No One’s Talking About that’s Business Critical
If you’re in operations, you’re figuring out internal AI workflows.
If you’re a department lead, you’re making sure AI is productive and creative.
But if you’re a CEO or marketing leader, you need to look outside the organization.
Because the real disruption isn’t happening inside your company. It’s unfolding in the invisible layer between your brand and your customer.
⚡ To Cut Through the Noise, It Comes Down to Two Things
1️⃣ AI is now your new audience: AI increasingly stands between you and your customers.
2️⃣ The internet experience has evolved: from an information and social transaction layer to an AI generative and AI conversational layer we will all increasingly interact with.
This is the quiet revolution redefining how brands are seen, trusted, and chosen by us.
And most marketers haven’t even noticed it’s begun.
👉 I call this the Era of Marketing to the Machines — a critical strategy for both surviving and thriving in the Generative Internet Era. The first time I was a speaker on this topic at a conference was back in April. Read on for what you need to know now.
💡 Introducing the Generative Internet
The Generative Internet is the next evolution of the web, where the internet or AI systems no longer just retrieve information, they generate it. Instead of showing search results, they create narratives, answers, and experiences, trained on what it decides is usable input. This is happening now and on the rise. Don’t just take it from me though, here’s what the latest data tells us:
By 2026, traditional search will drop by 25%. Search engine usage and site traffic through search in decline, as AI engines reshape discovery and the shift in consumer behavior
In a recent Open AI study of consumer usage of ChatGPT in partnership with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and Harvard Economist David Demeng. 70% of usage on ChatGPT is non-work related, of which 49% are using the engines as an advisor for decisions ranging from purchase to personal, claiming firmly AI is the driver of influence and decisions. Furthermore, categorising the 700M weekly active users, are either Asking, Doing or Expressing.
It doesn’t stop there. Goodbye Dr.Google, Hello Dr.AI. Now a rapidly growing platform for health. A recent NIH study found 67% people are turning to AI engines for health questions and OpenAI have recently hired Doximity Execs to lead their health expansion
Spending on GenAI smartphones estimated to increase from $296B in 2025 to $398B in 2026, signaling an exponential shift in day to day interaction experience by consumers, with overall spend in AI projected to exceed $2 Trillion in 2026
Last but not least, 76% marketing leaders increasing spend in AI however lack clarity to measure impact and 66% of organizations report having an AI strategy, but many are still aligning it to internal business outcomes
And THIS right here, is why I swan dived deep into AI, decoded it, tested it, proved it and then created this space for you. It’s here that you’ll get the new framework built from real experience not recycled noise.
Because the digital landscape is no longer about AI visibility alone (the surface level conversation about it floating around now). It’s about interpretation. From the Machine, whether the machine can generate a response that can tell your story and tell it right.
And it’s also about the shift in our behavior and what that means to a business.
🚨 Spoiler Alert
There’s a solution to this problem, and two more challenges that marketers and CEOs need to respond to the shift and prepare for whats next. They’re connected to the Generative Internet but require completely different playbooks.
I’ll unpack those in the next article. For now, let’s stay here, at the baseline of what’s already shifting beneath your feet
The Invisible Revolution
For decades, marketers optimized for algorithms. Now, we must design for machines that interpret, translate, and narrate.
The old internet was transactional. The Generative Internet is contextual and conversational. AI doesn’t just decide what to show, it decides what’s worth showing and shows it the way they decide is worth showing.
That’s the hidden revolution: Brands are no longer discovered. They’re interpreted, narrated, and retold by machines.
And the narrative the machines tell about you determines how, or if, your customers will not only ever find you, but understand you and why you matter to them
🤖 Why Most Marketers Aren’t Ready
Marketing teams are still busy learning how to use AI, when respectfully, they should be learning how to influence it. Generative AI for marketers isn’t just about using new tools, it’s about learning how to influence the machines that now influence customers. The future of the role, and the strategy hinges on mastering marketing to AI now.
The noise over indexes on optimizing workflows instead of optimizing brand storytelling, brand experience, or marketing for machine comprehension.
AI is already your newest audience, and your most powerful sales rep. If your brand story doesn’t connect to AI, the AI will replace it with what it chooses to be most relevant.
If you don’t shape the narrative, the machines will.
🌍 The Opportunity
This isn’t a crisis. It’s simply a new interaction. It’s only a crisis if you haven’t decoded how to participate, influence and re-influence specifically. Because when you understand how AI perceives and narrates your brand, you can shape that perception intentionally to teach AI who you really are.
That’s the next frontier of marketing that no one is talking about with clarity, direction and easy actionability is not “using AI,” but Marketing to the Machines.
